US Ambassador to Kenya, Robert Godec spoke at the event and visited the IOM compound to observe the Expanded Vaccination Program, a joint initiative of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), US State Department Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) and IOM. The program was piloted in Kenya to give refugees resettling to the United States a full range of vaccinations in order to ensure healthy arrivals, but also to ensure that all children arriving to the United States are already fully vaccinated and will not require follow up. The program has expanded to include Ethiopia and some of the countries in and around the Great Lakes.
